Artist Comment - BEAR |
What if we were both nonbinary and dancing while staring longingly into the mirrors of our eyes with eachother but also you’re also me and the song is a genuine banger. Theoretically. Also I accidentally drank paint water twice(?) while painting the piece for this ∠( ᐛ 」∠)＿ Thank you everyone for supporting FLAVOR FOLEY! And thank you to the foleys for this opportunity (♡ˊ͈ ꒳ ˋ͈)

Jamie: so, for some context - Ballroom is a song from my 2021 album Bittersweet, based off of an even older 2016 demo, and it was written at the tail end of three straight years of complete and total Burnout.
being an artist is hard. hell, being a person is hard. i've spent so much of my life feeling like a fraud in everything i did, like i was playing pretend in a room full of real people - drowning in impostor syndrome. the thing is, though… there's joy to be found in playing pretend, and a lot more people than it might seem on the surface are faking it 'til they make it. it doesn't make you any less authentic to play a part - playing pretend, paradoxically, can very easily lead you to your own truths. Ballroom was my way of working through this, and it was a shoe-in for my reprise on this album.
vane: i love orchestral arranging!!!!!!!!!!! rah!!!!! honestly i think i sat down and arranged the orchestral parts for like five hours straight when i first got this project file. ballroom is such a beautiful song and i wanted to do it as much justice as i could. i had alot of fun, gave it alot of love and i hope you enjoy this orchestral take on the song!! also shoutouts marcy nabors we love you.
rice: we brought on Marcy Nabors to help us with some of the production on this; jamie was having some problems with her wrists so we brought on Marcy to be her hands… basically to have jamie ratatouille her around…. but also this was originally partially her song too so y'know. this is her kitchen LOL
we're so so so so so grateful to her for coming on on such short notice and helping us with that. thank you marcy everyone say thank you marcy we love you
Jamie: i'm spending the rest of this just talking about Marcy. she's my best friend in the whole wide world and i adore her with all my heart and soul. genuinely such a kindhearted person with a lovely creative mind! she was there during all of our Digital Stars performances, helping with merch or being vitally-needed moral support or simply having a good time. also she worked on Deltarune which is cool*. everyone go tell Marcy Nabors that you love her
*MARCY HAS NO ADVANCE INFORMATION ON DELTARUNE. WE DID NOT RECEIVE ANY ADVANCE INFORMATION ON DELTARUNE OR ANY INFORMATION IN GENERAL OF ANY KIND ABOUT DELTARUNE.
rice: aaaand that's the end of the album!! 9 tracks.. wowie…. and so this also marks the end of the FLAVOR FOLEY FILES 2!!! thank you for reading!!
