rice: it's no secret that my original song catalogue is pretty small compared to the other 2… but i do write them sometimes! "rotten apples" is a song that was originally posted on my YT as a short. i sometimes get comments about it asking for a full version… and while i've always been very flattered and happy to have that interest i also feel like sometimes a song is just meant to be 30 seconds and that's the full length. i've always really liked Jack Stauber's work in that regard!!! so that’s why the reprise is also really short i just think the song was already Done. but im nice so you can have it twice

rice: so yeah i’ve been happy at that job ever since! i was actually kind of worried about if i could get back into that dark mindset again for the reprise. but then i got a super big promotion so my stress levels went WAY UP AGAIN and that was enough for me to write new lyrics for the reprise LOOOOL. but my #raise just hit so i’m fine again now #GRINDSET #EMPLOYED #TAXISGOINGTOTAKEHALFMYFUCKINGBONUSAGAIN

my dayjob has basically nothing to do with art or creating….. for simplicity's sake you can basically say i work in finance i guess lol? but it’s rewarding and i’m pretty good at it! and it gives me health insurance and stuff so i’m happy 👍 i often think people see the end-all be-all of pursuing creative fields as being able to do creative stuff full-time, but i don’t necessarily think that’s always true…. sometimes you can just have a boring dayjob and be fulfilled creatively in other ways! both are viable routes, both have their own perks and downsides!!

actually related to that i have one request. i’ve seen some people online be like “oh rice just got a job so rice is busy now” and i want the record set straight I’VE HAD THIS JOB THE WHOLE TIME I’VE DONE FLAVOR FOLEY!!! SINCE BEFORE FLAVOR FOLEY EVEN!!!! IT'S NOT A NEW JOB I AM NOT NEWLY EMPLOYED I'VE BEEN EMPLOYED!!!! THE DIFFERENCE IS I GOT A PROMOTION SO NOW I CAN’T WORK FROM HOME ANYMORE AND I WORK A LOT MORE WEEKENDS WHICH IS WHEN I USUALLY WORKED ON ONLINE STUFF SO NOW I HAVE LESS FREE TIME THAN I DID BEFORE!!!! BUT IT'S THE SAME JOB!!! I'VE HAD THIS SAME JOB FOR LIKE 4 YEARS!!!!! can everyone spread the word that i've been employed this whole time so everyone knows how employed and hardworking and good at time management i am thank you

oh yeah and because i already felt like the song vision was done being executed, in terms of length and production i just let the other foleys do whatever they wanted with it so i didnt give much input besides some new lyrics LOL

vane: i dont have too much i wanna say for this one!! i mostly just had fun playing with the mario paint sounds in the first half of the track! i believe im the one who suggested the rock direction for the second half and im SO happy with how jamie choose to arrange that section it sounds so awesome. its also just funny this song is really funny

rice: vane wrote the "i need a trick to last, i'm / thinking i could use a bullet or two, one for me one for you!" new lyric and it's like fucking peak it makes me laugh so fucking bad every time i hear it

Jamie: i was really busy with Real Life Events when we first started working on this reprise, so the structure was mostly mapped out by the time i got my hands on it… however, the rock section was originally like 30 bpm slower, not in double time, and overall less loud, and i couldn't stand for this. my main contribution to this was just flailing around crazy style on guitar for 30 minutes and once again inserting my actual recorded voice into a flavor foley song:

astute listeners may also recognize the inclusion of the Suzuki Andes - a melodica-style instrument that, instead of being a free-reed instrument, is essentially a pan flute recorder with piano keys. it sounds like a dinky recorder. i have never used this instrument before in my life and i've never recorded myself playing it for any other song that i or any other member of flavor foley has worked on before hey why are you looking at me like that

rice: oh yeah for the singer…. Oscar is a SynthV voicebank and he is red and green like an appble.

before he was a SynthV he was an UTAU as a part of a group called "Voicemith", a group of Taiwanese UTAUs who have been around for like a decade!!
