rice: welcome to the FLAVOR FOLEY FILES 2!

this is where we'll be sharing behind-the-scenes and retrospectives for every song off of our upcoming album, "MIRROR MODULATION", out on October 11th!

Jamie: you'll get a peek into our creative process, some snippets of demos, a lot of unfiltered thoughts, and most certainly at least like five or six recommendations from me for bands you should listen to!

Vane: we also did one of these for our previous album, "CARDIAC CONTREPOINT"- you can read those here!

we'll be posting one essay a day leading up to the release of the album, so please look forward to it!

rice: ah, speaking of the album… let's do a little introduction for it!!! do you guys want to do it? (Long silence) okay i'll do it

in the way that "CARDIAC CONTREPOINT" was about "Love", "MIRROR MODULATION" is about "Identity". each song explores this core theme from a different angle, from the perspective of different stages along one's journey to self-acceptance.

in addition, here's a fun little trick: each song is thematically a "Reflection" of its mirror counterpart on the other half of the album! here's an extremely crude diagram

can you identify the reflected themes between each song and its mirror counterpart…?

we'll share more about each of them in later files, but i hope everyone can have fun piecing it together themselves, as well!
